Posters Design
Posters Design: Technical Guidelines Observed in Creating Great Impact Posters.
Posters
are another way of communicating your information. They are best used
as aid to a discussion and only represent the essence of the topic.
Posters design has some technical guidelines followed in order to achieve the desired design for the poster.
- Layout should be planned carefully. The layout includes:
- Headings and subheading.
- Information organized into sections.
- Balance and simplicity is observed.
- Graphics, photographs, images etc. can be added.
- Too much detail is not necessary. The lesser and vital is better.
- The poster must have a clean and simple layout, leaving enough white space.
- Name and contact details must be provided for audience that might want to discuss it with you.
-
Information must have the flow by column or by row. Numbering system
will help your audience to follow the flow of the information easily.
- Colors
play a vital role in posters. Colors that are to be used must
complement each other. Text and background colors must as well
harmonize each other. The foreground color for the text must be clear
and soft to the eyes when combined with background colors. Using too
much color will make the poster look cluttered and busy.
- Text
size and font type will determine whether your able will be able to
read your poster with ease. Choose a font type that is easy to read.
Capital letter words are not easy to read. The audience must be able to
read from a distance.
- Photographs, graphics, diagram,
etc. will add interesting visuals to the poster, helping you to convey
your message well. Unnecessary or too many visuals will clutter your
poster and make it look busy. Zooming of relevant images is a great
help. The visuals must be clear and of good quality such as photographs
taken from digital camera and work with digital images.
Planning
your poster is extremely important. Your posters design must be
eliminated with “noise” because you have less than 3 seconds to draw
your audience’s attention to read your poster. “Noise” in posters is
given when irrelevant or unnecessary information is added. Attention
grabbers are important in your poster. You must make a quick impact
such as catching and interesting statement, photographs, graphic
design, layout, and colors. All of these elements play a vital role in
achieving poster design that is of great impact and high quality. A
well designed poster is eye catching, attractive, and effectively and
economically communicates information.
