When I first saw Apple’s first
high resolution 30-inch Cinema HD Display, I was mesmerized. It’s so cool and I
want to have it one of these days. The Apple Cinema
Display line features a gorgeous new anodized aluminum enclosure to complement
your Power Mac G5 or PowerBook G4.
Apple believes that how you see your computer is important to
your overall experience. Because of this, their engineers build a display into
almost every Mac. Apple puts that same care and thought into every detail of
this display that you’ll add to your Power Mac or PowerBook. With it, you’ll
get quality color designed by people who care as much about how you’ll use your
system as they care about advancing technology.
For your information,
this great innovation requires a $599 Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics
card and a Power Mac G5 in order to work. The card features two DVI connectors
to enable two 30-inch Cinema HD displays to work side by side. The new card was
made available as a build-to-order option in new Power Mac G5s last August
2004; an upgrade kit for existing G5s was also made available during that time.
I am more impressed on the uncompromising quality of this innovation. You’ll
surely view crisp, bright and rich images from it because color is consistent
across the entire surface of the screen.
Surely, Apple's 30-inch
Cinema HD Display is something worth wishing for. The top of the line LCD
display from Apple is the most gorgeous display I've ever seen. It's sheer size
dwarfs just about anything that could reasonably be called a computer monitor,
but more than this – much more than this – it's everything you could hope for
in terms of a monitor designed for professionals in the visual arts: color
accuracy and consistency, performance and resolution.
I
do agree with David Nagel’s idea that Apple's new 30-inch Cinema HD Display only
means that we have a whole lot of room to play around with. Kudos and more
power to the developers of this amazing technology!
